Yes, I am one of those moms I said I would never become… zoning out mindlessly, scrolling through Facebook and Instagram. Oh, yes, I can see those eyes rolling at the screen now. Let me ask you a question. Are you in my shoes? Do you take care of two school-aged children in virtual school, a very active preschooler, and two dogs? No? Okay, thank you. Then, please support each other instead of judging.
One thing I have learned during my time at home is that stay-at-home-moms (SAHMs) are judged so negatively. You get that “Oh” when you say what you do, like you don’t have an actual “job”. Yes, I was one of those, too. I apologize to each and every one of you. I get it now. This is by the far the hardest job I have ever done – and did through an unprecedented global pandemic!
Yes, I am tired. Yes, I am frustrated. Yes, I fail, and that is perfectly okay! I get to experience so much more of my children’s lives. I have seen them learn so many things. I can honestly say my younger two were more ready for school than my eldest was due to me being here. Shh don’t tell him that…😬
To all the moms out there, I see you. I hear you. I feel you. We are all in this together. During the pandemic, none of us expected to be in it for as long as we were. I am supposed to be enjoying my one-on-one time with my youngest before he goes to Kindergarten next year. I hope my boys remember this time fondly as they have grown even closer. Yes, they still fight like brothers, but I bet they defend each other like gladiators.
I just want to say “Thank You!” I am so thankful for seeing a Facebook ad asking to apply for Louisville Mom Collective. I honestly was going to scroll right on past because I thought I would never make it. I literally filled out my application at like 10pm one night after putting my boys in bed! I have gained lifetime friends and joined am amazing support group. I proudly support all moms!
