While it’s been fun having quality time with our loved ones during this pandemic, we all deserve a break for a date night. Whether you like attending sporting events, admire art, or like to imbibe on a brew, this city has a lot to offer for couples. Here is a date night roundup in Louisville!
The Quality Childcare Circle
Looking for a trustworthy, qualified babysitter for occasions like date nights or just to run errands? Become a member of the Babysitters Circle and have access to local prescreened sitters – sitters that you can trust! When you book with them, you will always have a sitter for your family, and you gain more family by trusting and using The Quality Childcare Circle, a local babysitter and placement agency serving Louisville and the surrounding areas. If you are also needing a nanny, they offer full- and part-time placements! Don’t go through the overwhelming interviewing and hiring process yourself; let them do it for you!
“It hurts me to cancel our subscription, but we are going to be moving to Northern KY in a couple of weeks. Thank you for providing this service! We will miss all of the wonderful sitters here!!” – Lauren S.
Cooking Classes
Are you looking to improve your culinary skills? Look no farther than the Cooking at the Cottage! You can register as a couple for their date night, hands-on classes.
Play Together
Is a little friendly competition more your style? Louisville has a number of venues where you and your date can play together or against one another! Flying axes? What could be more fun! Flying Axes | Axe Throwing is available for large groups, but is also available to couples on a walk-in basis. If you want to get the adrenaline going on a clock, check out one of these two escape venues: Breakout – Escape Room and Locked In – Escape Game are two options here in the Derby City. Finally, if you and your date are into the old school games like pinball machines, RECBAR could be your ideal night! Have a drink, play some games, eat some grub, and repeat!
Restaurants & Bars
There are so many wonderful restaurants here in and around the Lou, but here are a few that are worth getting a mention. A short drive from downtown, in Oldham County, Barn8 Restaurant is located on Hermitage Farm. With it’s farm to table concept, you will be taken in by the scenery and bourbon lounge. If you want to stay closer to downtown Louisville, Repeal Oak-Fired Steakhouse is a authentic, historic Oak-Fired Steakhouse located on Louisville’s Whiskey Row – housed in the former site of J.T.S. Brown and Sons’ wholesale, warehouse and bottling operations. Hell or High Water Bar is one of Louisville’s speakeasies with an intimate setting, perfect for drinks before dinner. Are you looking for a day date or a staycation? Enjoy a classic hot brown, where it was created: The Historic Brown Hotel! Looking for a vegan option? Check out V-Grits, where comfort and vegan meet. They also brew their own seasonal beers!
Breweries, Distilleries, Wineries, Oh My!
We are in Bourbon Country, so this obviously had to make the list: Louisville’s Urban Bourbon Trail. Louisville alone has 9+ distilleries including: Angel’s Envy Distillery, Bulleit, Frontier Whiskey Experience at Stitzel-Weller, Copper & Kings American Brandy, the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience, Kentucky Artisan Distillery, Kentucky Peerless Distilling, Michter’s Micro-Distillery, Old Forester Distillery, and Rabbit Hole Distillery. If brews are more your cup of tea, check out these breweries in the Derby City: Against the Grain Brewery, Great Flood Brewing Co., and Gravely Brewing just to name a few. For a short trip up north, you can visit a scenic vineyard, Huber’s Orchard, Winery, and Vineyard, in Southern Indiana. Depending on the season, there are usually events planned for the general public!
For the Sports Fans
Louisville is known not only for its bourbon scene, but also for the horses. Watch one of the races at Churchill Downs Racetrack! Dress up or keep it casual, but get ready to place some bets. We are also home to the Louisville Bats, make it a baseball date night with some hotdogs and some popcorn! If soccer or football is your sport of choice, Louisville City FC and Racing Louisville Football Club are now playing in Louisville, so don your best gear in purple and lavender to cheer on the teams. Last, but not least, if you and your date are Cardinal fans, then check the schedule to see what games are now playing!
Art Scene
If you and your date want to take it easy to soak in the art scene, Speed Art Museum has many options from concerts and exhibitions to gallery talks and film festivals, there’s never any shortage of activity! Take a trip to NuLu, for some art and shopping. There, you will find a number of art galleries. Are you a Broadway fan? Then, Broadway in Louisville might be a great place to start! While, their season currently is on hold, they are planning some great shows in the fall.
Louisville is home to a variety of venues and establishments; something for every couple!
